Any single scouting report or evaluation is only one person's opinion. However, the scouting report just posted on Tyler Vrabel, if accurate, raises a significant concern about our Oline coaching. The report makes him sound like a physically talented player with lousy technique. Shouldn't these flaws have been corrected by good coaching?

Question this brings up is: Just how much of this is laid at the feet of Matt Applebaum? Maybe, his leaving was fortuitous . . .

I am beginning to think you are right.

I mean it is hard to understand his weaknesses as Vrabel was recognized early in his college career as being one of the better linemen in the ACC and one would think, given his pedigree and advantages to training through his contacts, he would have mastered technique by the time he was ready to audition for the pros. I was particular stuck by Mitch's critique that he does not hold his blocks.

He clearly has the physical attributes and pedigree. Petrula I understand. I don't think he has the talent to take it to the next level, but Vrabel should be a better pro prospect. If Mitch is accurate, there is no other answer than coaching.

I think Vrabel might have been playing through something last year . IIRC, he came out of games vs Clemson and SU and missed NC State altogether.

The o-line regressed under Applebaum I believe we will see big improvement IMHO.
