Keys to the Game

1. NC State is very good against the run. Ranked very high. About 90 yards allowed per game. BC will need to depend on the pass.

2. Be ready for the blitz, you know it is coming. Teams have been very effective with the blitz against BC. O-Line needs to do a better job here. Grosel needs to settle down and find the open opportunities that result from the blitz.

3. An up-tempo hurry up offense would benefit Grosel's game.

4. More shot gun. Less under center for DG.

5. Continue to target tight ends as done at Clemson. Probably see more passes to the running backs.

6. Defense needs another good showing. Our defensive backfield should be able to limit the good, but not great NC ST receivers. Our pass rush needs to step up. Can't give NC State's very good quarterback time to find the open man. The pass rush could determine the outcome of the game.

My prediction :

BC 23 vs. NC State 17

UPDATE : I NOW SEE REPORTS OF RAIN SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS CHANGES THINGS. The weather report shows "showers" starting in the afternoon and ending after midnight. That could easily change before then. Showers could be intermittent or not even hit Boston. Hope weather holds up.

UPDATE WEDS: As of today weather still for showers Saturday afternoon ending after midnight. PLUS moderate wind 16 mph. The rain and wind could limit the passing game as well as Connor Lytton FG game.

But this would make my under 52.5 be even stronger.

My $0.02.

BC needs to run it some. Very good D, yes, but the 90 defensive rushing yards a game includes 2 games NCSU won in blowouts with a heavier pass mix plus Air Raid Miss State. The biggest thing is to get the grimy yards when there isn't a lot there. Nothing terribly wrong with 2nd and 8, but don't lose 4 by making a no gain run worse.

Keeping the down/distance manageable is key because, yes, NCSU will bring the heat.

More shotgun may or may not help Grosel, but I think it hurts Garwo. He's a momentum runner with good vision. He seems to read the cuts better from deep and it's a much less athletic cut required than from shotgun.

I do think TEs will play a big role also, but they're more dangerous in run/pass situations.

A good game for the D to force some fumbles. Knight has a couple this year and put it on the ground vs Clemson, but was down first.

Good points.

I agree Garwo best reads the cuts from deep.
However Grosel reads the field and performs much better from shotgun..

I think Hafley and staff will out scheme NC State.

Should be a great game.
