Penn State just lost their D- Coordinator and rumors have Franklin will leave next season. We should not lose Hafley unless he hits out of the park this season, but Kraft really knows all our coaches. I guess this answers any questions about stadium improvement.
I think that Penn State would have to Crush the Big Ten and probably be a serious playoff contender if he hopes that someone would outbid his current contract and I don’t see that happening that easily

This is GIANT JUMP for Kraft. I'm glad for him. Now it time to get a PERMANENT Athletic Director.

After 2022 Franklin's buyout is $6 million and then it continues to decrease. That prevented him from going to either LSU or USC. That is not going to keep folks who want a top 10 coach from paying him more -- That doesn't mean they will -- last year his team did not do as well as projected, so he might just stay forever -- but if he gets Penn State into the top 4 he could be poached. I hope he wins 6-7 games and stays there forever, so Kraft leaves our coaches alone. The Big 10 has academic requirements that the SEC (exception is Vandy -- who incidentally as a private school only draw less than 25K per home game). One can attend a SEC school full-time with as little as 12-15 credits -- and take the hardest courses at certified 2 year state colleges during the Summer. In many of these schools students take as long as 7 years as a full-time student to get their degree. You are not required to take any courses on schedule -- which means you can post-pone the hardest courses until your playing career is over. That's almost ridiculous, but it is a tremendous advantage in recruiting as many of these kids do not believe they will ever need the degree anyway.

Kraft has Big 10 roots and Penn State was once (before Sandusky) the best run college athletics college in the country (data re 2001-4 per my son who had access to those data bases while getting his Masters in Sports Admin at TAMU). It should be the dream job or dream jobs for college ADs. Of course the fact the it had only two coaches for all those years and they didn't get paid any where near what they deserved. He does get the credit for the new facilities and the championship in hockey -- He didn't hire Hafley -- he leaves us at a bad time as we have to replace a baseball coach and the GOAT of college hockey coaching -- and who will be handling his replacement??? A consultant firm headed up by Gene D??? Hope not.

Remember, during its most progressive years, BC had 3 things it does not have now:
1. A president with the vision necessary to not only rescue BC from financial morass, but also to meet its motto of "Ever to Excel" in all areas.
2. A long-time AD who remained faithful to his alma mater and stayed for all those years.
3. A Board of Trustees who demanded excellence in both academics and athletics.

Question is: Do we have that now? Or will the Admin look for an accountant like Gene D.

I would look for someone who loves the school, who has contacts in the sports world, and a great athletic reputation: Namely Flutie, Herzlich, Dudley, etc. Hire an assistant AD who knows all the ropes and together they will build what we need. Dangerous, yes? You would rather get someone who has all the tools -- but those guys come and then they leave. I say, step outside the box and try something new.

Flutie, Herzlich, or Dudley! OH My! You know, William Flynn was a BC football, baseball and hockey player.

I've always dreamed about Doug coming back in some capacity at BC. No one loves BC more than Doug.

I have been an advocating for Flutie in the past (and often got scorched for it)

“If he wants it” he would have so many plus factors even though he has no AD experience.

here are a few that come to my mind

1) he is a local legend that could build those bridges with local programs both Football and Basketball.

2) he can engage with alumni, fans and legacy

3) he has great media connections

4) he has been a TV analyst exposed to so many coaches and could be a good judge when it comes to football hiring’s.

5) he is young enough to stick around York Style

With Flutie’s advocacy of CDD autism, part of his deal could be a game, similar to the Red Bandana, for those with autism.

I know you all know I posted this many times in the past.....

If you ever think Flutie wants to deal with even a Head Coaching position or worse the newly changed job description with all University AD jobs, even though BC and most have huge new staffs,

and give up his great sports playing and fun life, then you have lost your mind!!

AD's with their new compliance and all staffs are now>>>>>

NIL FUNDRAISERS!

== Travel, BS, More BS, begging for $$!

who needs this pain in the absolute ass job and then you have to deal with cheap lazy arrogant Jesuits and the whining Academia Puscadores.

Maybe with the new paradigm NIL world a young BC guy might adopt my strategy of Biz, CEO's and raising cash for recruiting, but again, this is no longer the same old AD jobs?

New AD's: == You are a 24/7 Jerry Lewis Cash Raising Telethon.

ENJOY!

We all know there are reasons Doug Flutie would not take the job, but that would be his decision to make not ours. He is a BC legend and our Admin can not dismiss him the way the would be able to do with a young talent upstart. He is beloved by every one including the Jesuits. When I talked with him and asked about his son and autism -- he lit up like a candle -- he is a great advocate for kids with autism -- he would be interested in doing anything to promote that cause. I look for a sales pitch to him that would go something like this -- "Doug, we need you to come in -- assess and suggest -- and then implement solutions -- we think you can do this in no more than 5 years -- as a benefit we will agree to add a game that fund-raises and promotes advocacy of your son's disease -- we will call it the Flutie Foundation Game for Autism. You can help us handpick your successor who will be your assistant for no more than 3 years and then be promoted to take over for you. Why don't you discuss it with your wife, pray about it, and then get back to us in about a week or so with your decision."

Guys like Flutie do not need money -- they need to do what God is calling them to do. I think we might have a chance -- maybe around 30% of getting a yes, but it is worth a try.

74, I bet if BC asked you to head up a committee to study a new stadium, you would do it for free -- for the love of your alma mater -- but you are a prophet -- prophets are not always loved -- Flutie is a beloved legend.

Let’s recap for those playing the BC AD game, the home version!

Serenity Now!

GDF fired a great BC Coach team in Jags & Logan after Jags who never violated his contract over GDFXCKUP’s scumbag ego over a beauty contest interview. BC paid Jags $1M to go over GDF’s stupidity.

GDF then hired a lost in Power 5 ACC Hoops Coach who had trouble recruiting inner city black kids (Utter Insanity!) in Hoops after firing Lazy Elvis Skinner who stopped high level recruiting.

GDF hired his catatonic calzone cushion mumbling golf buddy in Spaz and then beyond insanity gave this pathetic loser stiff an extension instead of firing him.

Spaz made a fortune and took GDF golfing around the world.

Bates, a MACCOMFORTZONE loser went so cheap and lazy he hired two 7 year stiffs in Daz and Christian who were way way less than mediocre Power 5 level Head Coaches.

Jarmond made a great hire in Hafley but should had replaced Christian in Year 1. Martin started a clothes line and installed a Juice Bar!

Kraft brought in Grant but also screwed club sports during COVID and pissed off many parents.

The IPF and New Hoops Facility we’re necessities and I give no one credit for the Fish donation or the new Hoag Heaven Hoops.

I say hire a TV Evangelist as our next AD. You channel surf through these shows and people donate millions for Jesus.

“Please help build Jesus a Football Manger for his Jesuit children to watch sports! Can I hear an Amen Eagles!”

I mean we put Giant Crucifix on top of the Retractable Dome with 5 billion Lumens so I can see it blink when my Eagles score from Texas!
